Back in 2011, my passion for photography was ignited. I attended an event organized by a Meet-Up group in Phoenix. The evening started with a dinner with other women in the community and ended with performances by athletic pole dancers. I watched these performers bend their bodies into shapes and defy gravity with grace. I thought to myself, “This is too beautiful to miss.” Soon after, I purchased my first Nikon, signed up for my first dance class, and joined the community.
Over the years, my love for visual beauty has expanded. I focus on portrait work but secretly love architecture, abstract shapes, and narrative still life. As an artist, I am constantly learning, making mistakes, experimenting, improving, and doing it all over again the next day. The longer I am on this journey, the more I realize that photography is much more than achieving perfect images. Similar to life, it is the journey and the experience behind the creative process that enhance value within a photo. Behind every great photograph, there’s a story, big or small. Above all, there are names and faces of real life Muses who tirelessly keep the spinning wheel of inspiration going. I’m forever grateful for these people.
As far as writing goes, writing is my best friend, big sister, healer, counsellor, teacher, and time traveller. Without writing, I don’t know where I would be today. My dream as an artist is to contribute to a safe space where people can collaborate, create, inspire, and connect with their divine selves as well as nurturing mine.
